BREAKING: Nine Ondo lawmakers refuse signing for impeachment of Deputy Gov

Nine lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have refused to sign an impeachment notice against the Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi.

Standard News reports that 14 other assembly members have already signed the impeachment notice against Ajayi. The process to remove the deputy governor over allegation of insubordination and misconduct is already ongoing in the state assembly.

It was learned that the lawmakers plan to impeach the deputy governor following his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a move to stop his impeachment, Ajayi filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja seeking to stop the impeachment proceeding and enforced his fundamental right of association.

In the suit filed by his counsel I. Olatoke, SAN, the defendants include the House of Assembly, the Inspector General of Police, the State Commissioner of Police, Department of State Services, and the Speaker of the Assembly, David Oleyeloogun.
